I have been lamenting the lack of a citrus mold for making gummy-modelling-chocolate fruit. I showed people in my class the trick to adding the gummy to the chocolate without having the inner rinds collapse. I wrote in the booklet that this wouldn’t be necessary if one could cast the wedge shapes first, but that I hadn’t found a citrus-wedge mold for a reasonable cost (there was one fancy French professional one for $60ish plus shipping but that’s way too much!).
The one of my mom friends cleaned out her kitchen, found this, and gave it to me at a playdate this morning:
I don’t know if she wants to be named publicly or not but AS, I heart you for this! Enough that I will NOT give you my first born. See? That’s real mom-to-mom friendship. 😉
Now before you all ask, AS got this several years ago in a basket full of goodies and doesn’t know the source. There are no manufacturer marks or other identifiers. I have searched many times on Google and never seen this before. If anyone out there has a source to share, please do, because these are starting to be in demand!
I have one like this that I bought in the dollar aisle at Target.
Ah, then it'll never be found again, judging by all of my treasure finds in that aisle!
Looks suspiciously like an ice tray to me :).
Oh they are. I just have repurposed a bunch of so-called "ice trays" for gummy. Some of them are even heat-tolerant so they could be used to bake shaped treats!
